The Web Should Be Accessible to Everyone
As more and more of our life is spent using the Internet, it becomes imperative that it work for everyone, regardless of disability.
Web accessibility is more of an issue now than ever, since the ADA now requires that businesses with a physical footprint provide accessible websites. Government entities also are required that their websites and applications (internal and external) be accessible to all users.
And that’s where Shayna Productions can help. Our founder has over 12 years working with accessible design for government agencies including: Health and Human Services (including NCI and CMS), the National Institutes of Standards and Technology, Smithsonian, Social Security Administration and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. We bring her expertise and passion to create a level playing field for everyone.
Why We Focus on Accessibility
An accessible site is more usable for everyone. A focus on accessibility starts with architectural decisions and drives the project. Starting with accessible design is cheaper and faster than trying to retrofit it in. (Not to mention the money you save on the lawyers should you be sued).
It’s all about People
Different people need different access. A usable site should work well for everyone. Guidelines help us get there, but empathy brings a human realization to how real people use your site.
Accessibility from the Start
When we architect and design a web application to be accessible from the start, it costs less time and money.
While starting from scratch is optimum, we can analyze your site to see how much effort can be made to make your site accessible.
Accessible is Usable
…for Everyone
Accessibility creates usability for everyone, from the overt disabilities we think of such as blindness and deafness to those whose disabilities are hidden such as those with dyslexia, anxiety, ADD and autism. Accessibility is additive.
